Das Komitat Csongrád-Csanád liegt im südöstlichen Teil Ungarns, am Zusammenfluss der Flüsse Theiß und Maros. Der Sitz des Komitats ist Szeged, die drittgrößte Stadt des Landes, die zugleich ein bedeutendes Bildungs-, Kultur- und Wirtschaftszentrum ist. Weitere bedeutende Städte des Komitats sind Hódmezővásárhely, Szentes, Makó und Csongrád.
Das Zentrum des Gesundheitssystems des Komitats ist das Szent-Györgyi-Albert-Klinikzentrum der Universität Szeged, das nicht nur für die Region, sondern auch für das ganze Land eine der bedeutendsten Gesundheitseinrichtungen ist. Darüber hinaus spielen das Gesundheitsversorgungszentrum Hódmezővásárhely-Makó sowie das Dr.-Bugyi-István-Krankenhaus in Szentes eine herausragende Rolle. Die ambulante Fachversorgung wird durch zahlreiche Facharztpraxen und Gesundheitszentren in den verschiedenen Gemeinden des Komitats sichergestellt.
